Awning Problems We Repair
The parts that hold an awning up are usually the ones you cannot see from the footpath. These are the problems we fix most often on Sydney shop and street awnings.

Rusted tie rods and eye bolts
Tie rods carry the front of the awning back to the wall. When they rust through at the fixings, the whole awning is at risk. We replace rods, eye bolts and turnbuckles and re-anchor into sound masonry.

Rotting or sagging soffits
Stained, loose or collapsing soffit linings usually mean water has been getting in for years. We strip them back, check the frame and roof sheeting behind, then install new linings and lighting.

Corroded fascias and frames
Salt air and trapped water eat away at steel frames, brackets and fascias, especially near the coast. We cut out and replace corroded sections and refinish them to last.

Leaks and blocked gutters
Water dripping onto customers long after the rain stops points to failed flashings, gutters or roof sheeting. We find the source and fix it properly rather than patching the symptoms.

Council repair orders
If council has issued a notice or order, we inspect, repair and provide the paperwork council needs to close the matter, and we deal with council for you.

Heritage awnings
Older and heritage buildings need repairs that keep the original look. We strengthen and replace hidden parts while matching the visible detail.

Street awning repair, 300 Bondi Road
The soffit linings under this street awning had rotted and were falling away above a busy footpath. We stripped the old linings back to the steel frame and roof sheeting, so every part of the hidden structure can be checked and repaired.
New linings and finishes go back on once the structure is sound. We will add the finished photos here when the job is complete.

Repair or Replace, and What It Costs
Most awnings can be repaired
A tired or damaged awning does not automatically need replacing. If the main frame and fixings into the building are sound, replacing the failed parts is usually far cheaper. Replacement makes sense when the structure itself has failed or the awning no longer meets current requirements.
Repair or replace? How we decideWhat affects the price
- Size of the awning and how many parts need work
- Access, traffic control and working hours
- Hidden damage found once linings are opened up
- Heritage requirements and matching materials
- Council paperwork, engineering and certification
What Customers Say About Our Repairs
★★★★★The team at shop awning repairs sydney have been so great. We were advised that our awning could be repaired other than completely replaced and we really appreciated the honest advice. It was fixed the same week with certification provided. Genuinely saved us a lot of money and a big headache. Thank you Michael and team!Anne Marshall
★★★★★Sydney's best awning builder, hands down. Michael and his team genuinely surprised me. I was expecting to have to replace the whole awning, but they were able to repair it instead. The team is highly competent, honest about what actually needed doing, and super friendly throughout. Couldn't recommend them more highly.Mariana Sbrana arcas
★★★★★I received a council order to rectify my shop awning. The quote I got from an other company left me in shock. I am so grateful that I found Michael, he provided me with a more cost effective solution, carried out the works with no dramas, dealt with council and my tenant and had the order lifted. Highly recommend Michael and his team.Charlotte

Awning Repair FAQs
How much does an awning repair cost?
It depends on the size of the awning, what has failed, access and whether council paperwork or engineering is needed. Small repairs such as replacing a tie rod cost far less than rebuilding a soffit or frame. Every job starts with a free on-site inspection and a written quote, and our cost guide explains the main factors.
How quickly can you repair my awning?
If an awning is unsafe we can usually make it safe on the day. Once the scope is agreed and materials are ready, most repairs are completed within a day, while larger soffit or frame repairs can take longer.
Can my awning be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Most awnings we inspect can be repaired. If the main frame and the fixings into the building are sound, replacing the failed parts is usually the better option. We will tell you honestly if replacement is the safer or cheaper choice.
Do I need council approval for awning repairs?
Like-for-like repairs often do not need approval, but work that changes the size, structure or look of an awning, or work on a heritage building, may. We check the requirements before work starts. Our council approval guide has more detail.
Can you deal with council and my insurer?
Yes. We regularly handle council repair orders and provide the reports and certification councils, insurers and strata committees ask for, including a structural engineer's report where required.
